After an 18-month hiatus, Melbourne based promotion Australian Fighting Championships (AFC) have announced their return with AFC 23 set to take place on Sunday, December 1.
AFC has announced a partnership with UFC Fight Pass, with the next event set to be streamed live on the online platform. It joins fellow Australian promotion Eternal MMA as the two local promotions on UFC Fight Pass.
AFC 23 will take place at the Melbourne Pavilion, with a welterweight title fight set to headline the card. The reigning champion Theo Christakos (10-2) will defend his title against Andrew Mills (10-3). The two met back in 2017 where Christakos had his hand raised with a second-round submission.
The promotion is teasing a lightweight title fight to be confirmed shortly while a middleweight bout between Judoka turned MMA fighter Priscus Fogagnolo (11-1) and American Joseph Henle (11-4-1) has been confirmed for the card.
Among other news announced by the promotion is that five new directors have been added, with AFC looking to continue dipping their toes in the Chinese market, having previously been in a partnership with Kunlun Fight.
AFC’s last event took place in April 2018 where Christakos submitted Anton Zafir in the opening round.
