Sydney based women’s UFC fighter Alex Chambers is slated to face rising American youngster Paige VanZant on the UFC 191 card.
News of the bout was first revealed by MMASucka.com, with Fox Sports later confirming the bout with sources close to the contest, though UFC officials have yet to make it official.
Chambers (5-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC), will go into the fight fresh off an upset submission win over Kailin Curran in Adelaide last month. Chambers lost the first two rounds of the contest and was looking down the barrel of a 0-2 UFC record, before the 36-year-old secured the submission in the final round.
Chambers trains out of the VT-1 Gym in Sydney under Liam Resnekov and Dylan Resnekov but is currently in Florida, USA training at the highly American Top Team gym.
Standing across the cage from her will be 21-year-old Paige VanZant (5-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) who secured a third round TKO stoppage over Kailin Curran in her UFC debut before dominating Felice Herrig en-route to a decision win that also springboard her into the UFC strawweight top 10 rankings.
The card will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 5 (September 6 in Australia).
