Alex Volkanovski has got what he asked for.
The UFC has announced the Australian featherweight will take on Chad Mendes at UFC 232 in Las Vegas with the event taking place December 30 AEDT.
Volkanovski (18-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) is currently riding a 15-fight winning streak which includes 5 wins in the UFC. Most recently he defeated Darren Elkins and called for a fight with Chad Mendes, the UFC have now granted his wish.
Chad Mendes (18-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) recently returned to the UFC after a two-year hiatus to defeat Myles Jury by TKO in the first round. A former title-challenger, Mendes was twice defeated by Jose Aldo and also lost to Conor McGregor in a fight he took on 5 days’ notice.
UFC 232 will be headlined by Jon Jones taking on Alexander Gustafsson for the light-heavyweight title and Cris Cyborg defending her featherweight title against bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes in the co-main event.
