We sat down with UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski for a socially distanced chat in his hotel room, while he prepares for his first title defence at UFC 251 on Fight Island (Yas Island).
Volkanovski discussed the unique challenges of preparing for a fight during a pandemic and names a who’s who of top Australian fighters who were flown in to help him prepare against the durable Max Holloway.
“The Great” expressed a slight frustration with Holloway’s ‘excuses’ ahead of the rematch but he’s “fully prepared for a fully prepared Max Holloway”. Volkanovski also talked about his calm mindset and revealed what he really fights for – it’s not the glory.
