The highly decorated Australian featherweight Alexander Volkanovski (16-1-0) looks set to finally come face to face with Jeremy Kennedy (11-0-0) at UFC 221 in Perth.
Volkanovski, undefeated since 2013 and 3-0 in his UFC campaign so far, was set to face the undefeated Kennedy at UFC fight night Sydney in November. Unfortunately, Kennedy was forced out of the bout due to injury. Volkanovski instead fought New Zealand up and comer Shane Young, coming out with an easy decision victory.
The matchup was first reported by BJPenn.com’s Tom Taylor on Twitter and later confirmed by MMA-Today.

Given the resumes of each fighter, the winner would have a solid argument for a ranked opponent next, in a stacked featherweight division.
UFC 221 will be the first UFC event in Western Australia, taking place at the Perth Arena and headlined by UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker who defends against top contender Luke Rockhold.
