It took Australia’s Alexander Volkanovski to win the UFC featherweight title for the 31-year-old to break into the UFC pound-for-pound rankings.
The Shellharbour based athlete debuts at number 9 in the rankings while the opponent he defeated, Max Holloway dropped five positions to number twelve.
He becomes the third Australian & New Zealand fighter on the pound-for-pound rankings with Adesanya ranked at number seven and Whittaker at thirteen.
Jon Jones remains at the top of the tree, followed by Khabib Nurmagomedov and Henry Cejudo.
