Arlene Blencowe & Michelle Montague were victorious in Bellator Champions bouts earlier this morning contested in Dublin, Ireland.
The event took place at the 3Arena and was broadcast live in Australia on Stan Sports.
Veteran Aussie Arlene Blencowe fought Irish veteran Sinead Kavanagh who had UFC superstar Conor McGregor in her corner. The first round was evenly contested until Blencowe dropped Kavanagh with a straight right, 20 seconds remaining in the round. Blencowe looked to pounce with ground-and-pound before the buzzer ended the round.
Blencowe landed another right in the second round, countering Kavanagh who had upped the tempo. A right landed flush to drop Kavanagh midway through the round. Kavanagh attempted to stand and Blencowe locked up the standing guillotine to get the tap.
It was only the second submission victory in Blencowe’s career and her first since 2014 as she broke a two-fight losing streak to move to 16-10 in her professional career.

“How many times do I have to fight for this title before I win it,” Blencowe responded when asked about her title aspirations.
“I’m taking it one fight at a time. It’s been 14-months since I have been inside the Bellator cage so I’m just happy to be here. Super happy to get the win tonight. One fight at a time and whatever happens in life, happens.”
“I’m hoping to be put on the card in Paris, later this year.”
Earlier New Zealand’s Michelle Montague defeated Karolina Sobek. Montague waited for her opportunity early and wrestled her opponent to the ground.
Montague was able to take the back, securing one hook in before locking in the second, quickly wrapping the arm around the neck to get the rear-naked choke submission victory.
The win came only 2:41 as ‘The Wild One’ moves to an undefeated 5-0.
