Back in October 2016, Australia’s Arlene Blencowe (10-6) lost a majority decision to Julia Budd (10-2). Fast forward 12-months and the two featherweights are set to clash again, this time for Budd’s Bellator featherweight title.
The promotion announced the two will headline Bellator 189 which will take place at the WinStar World Casino in Oklahoma, USA on December 1 (December 2 in Australia).
Blencowe has gone 3-0 since that defeat with a pair of stoppages locally against Janay Harding and Rhiannon Thompson. In her last outing the 34-year-old fighter edged a split points decision against Sinead Kavanagh at Bellator 182.
Budd has fought just once since, capturing the inaugural Bellator women’s featherweight title with a fourth-round stoppage against women’s MMA pioneer Marlos Coenen, whom later retired from the sport.
Also announced is a co-main event with Chris Honeycutt (10-1) taking on Rafael Lovato Jr. (6-0).
