Arlene Blencowe has suffered a decision loss to Sarah McMann at Bellator 294 in Hawaii last night.
The two met in a three-round bout on the main card of the event, with McMann walking away with a unanimous decision, the judges scoring the bout 29-28, 30-27, and 30-26 in favour of the American Olympic wrestler. It was this wrestling ability that earned McMann the victory, as she was able to land multiple takedowns throughout the fight and keep Blencowe controlled on the ground for most of the bout.
This bout was McMann’s promotional debut, and her first fight since March 2022, where she faced Karol Rosa in the UFC.
This fight was Blencowe’s first fight in nearly a year, her last bout being a decision loss to featherweight champion Cris Cyborg at Bellator 279. Blencowe was ranked number two in the Bellator featherweight rankings heading into this matchup, with her current standing being unclear, as McMann was unranked before this fight.
After the event, Blencowe shared a post on her Instagram, saying ‘I didn’t have the performance I needed, nor did I get the win…but I’ll regroup and come back stronger.’
Blencowe’s professional record now sits at 15-10.
