AFC 8 goes down this Saturday night from the Melbourne Pavilion featuring the previously announced main event between two-time UFC fighter Bernardo ‘Trekko’ Magalhaes (pictured) and hometown veteran, and former AFC lightweight title challenger, Nick ‘Banjo’ Patterson. The two men will meet to decide who challenges lightweight champ Daniel Hooker next for the title.
In the co-main event, Victorian based Brazilian Rodolfo Marques will now face Queensland’s Dean ‘The Punisher’ Purdon after Alex Volkanovski was ruled out just days from go time due to a staph infection in his arm. The fight will be contested at 70kg.
KMA Top Team’s Corey Nelson will be looking to make it an impressive 7 wins in a row and further solidify his position as the country’s top welterweight when he comes up against Magnus MMA fighter Rick Alchin.
Another late change to the card will see local fighter Daniel Way step in to face Brazilian Daniel Almeida after Jack Johns was sidelined from the event.
As Fight News Australia revealed late last month, the previously scheduled co-main event between Manny Rodriguez and J.J. Ambrose was scraped with Rodriguez forced out through injury.
Fight News Australia will be cageside covering all the action.
