It was a mixed bag of results for the ATT Sydney fighters competing at Pacific Xtreme Combat 53 last night in the Philippines with Aydin Mrouki taking home a unanimous decision victory while Darwin Sagurit lost a majority points decision in his bout.
The event took place at the Solaire Resort in Pasay City and saw defending welterweight champion Zebaztian Kadestam KO Glenn Sparv in just 11 seconds in the main event. A full replay of the free stream can be found here.
A former Urban Fight Night amateur featherweight champion, Mrouki made an impressive pro debut at the show, outpointing Filipino Jaypee Espinosa in what was an entertaining, fast-paced standup battle.
Having had one point deducted in the opening frame of his bantamweight clash with local favorite Rex “T-Rex” De Lara due to an illegal knee, Sagurit ended up on the wrong side of the judge’s scorecards at the final bell after dominating much of the last round on the canvas. The loss follows his upset first round dismantling of Gustavo Falciroli in March and moves his record to 5-4.
Kiwi fighter Mark “Tyson” Abelardo was originally slated to meet South Korea’s Han Bin Park at the show however the fight was scrapped after Abelardo missed weight.
