The UFC rankings got a shake up following the latest event in Tampa over the weekend which saw Ben Nguyen enter the top 15 for the first time since making his UFC début in May last year.
With perennial title contender John Dodson now fighting in the bantamweight division, the 125lb rankings were adjusted accordingly, busting the division wide open.
Nguyen, who fights out of Brisbane, is considered one of the most exciting talents in the division due to his ability to finish fights. The 27 year old has 12 to his name including seven first round finishes.
“Ben 10” was scheduled to fight number 11 ranked Justin Scoggins at UFC Brisbane in a highly anticipated match-up but the fight was cancelled due to Scoggins sustaining an injury.
While Nguyen has not got a fight scheduled currently, the UFC recently announced a Fight Night to be held in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Nguyen’s home town. The event will take place on July 13.
The pound-for-pound number two fighter in the UFC, and flyweight king, Demetrious Johnson defends his title this weekend against Olympic medallist Henry Cejudo at UFC 197. All the action will be live on Pay-Per-View on April 24 (AEST).
