Australian based American Ben Nguyen (11-6) will face-off against Shannon McClellan (6-3) for the vacant Roshambo flyweight title on December 6.
The bout was made official by the Brisbane based promotion during Roshambo 3 which went down at the Chandler Theatre in Chandler, Queensland on Saturday night.
Originally from South Dakota, USA Ben Nguyen has travelled to Australia via the Tiger Muay Thai camp in Thailand to base himself in Queensland as the head-instructor of Fightcross Cleveland. Nguyen quickly made his made his mark on the local scene, defeating Grego Penaloza, Luke Morris and Shantaram Maharaj in the space of four months in 2013. He made it five wins on the trot earlier this year when he put away Nitro bantamweight champion Julian “Julz The Jackal” Rabaud with a 24-second knock-out.
Twenty-five year-old Shannon McClellan is currently on a two-fight win streak with his most recent outing coming back in May when he stopped Matthew George with punches in the third-round. It will be the PUMMA gym member’s first fight down at flyweight having fought the majority of his career as a bantamweight.
