Ben Wall (7-2-1 MMA, 0-2 UFC) has been released from the UFC following back-to-back defeats in the promotion. The Brisbane based fighter revealed the news on his Facebook page Thursday.
“Found out today almost 4months after my last fight that I’m cut from UFC. But worry not my manager is working on some big fights and have some good offers already. I am just looking forward to getting back in the cage soon and the old Manimal from a few years ago will be back you’ll see.”
We last saw ‘Manimal’ in action last May at UFC Fight Night: Brown vs Silva, where the Brisbane based lightweight was knocked out in the opening round by Justin Salas (12-6). The defeat followed his first round knockout loss at the hands of Alex Garcia (12-2) at Brisbane’s UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs Bigfoot event late last year, a welterweight matchup which Wall stepped up for on just one weeks notice.
Prior to signing with the UFC, the 25 year-old ground out a unanimous points decision win over Jai Bradney to capture the Nitro lightweight title at Nitro 8. It was later revealed Wall had signed with Legacy Fighting Championship and was expected to face American Alex Black at Legacy FC 27, that fight never eventuated however, with the Aussie receiving the late notice UFC call up to fight in his home town.
