Joseph Benavidez confirmed via his twitter earlier this morning that he has suffered an undisclosed injury and will be unable to fight in Auckland against Ben Nguyen this June.
The bout between the two artful flyweights, which pitted veteran against rising star, was considered by many to be a potential future contenders match-up with the winner setting up a likely title shot against reigning champion Demetrious Johnson later in the year.
Sad to share that I suffered an injury, will not be fighting June 10th. I’ll focus on what I can do and be back. Thank you for the support.
