Australian Damien Brown went down to his opponent, Karate stylist Tim Wilde in London, losing via unanimous decision while Ben Alloway’s road to the welterweight title took a backward step as he too went down, losing to Norwegian Mohsen Bahari via split decision.
The event which featured two separate events & two title fights took place at The Forum in London, England on Saturday night. It was broadcast live via the promotions website.
After a cautious beginning, Alloway rocked his opponent Mohsen Bahari with a straight right before the two clinched against the cage. Bahari secured a single-leg to get a takedown at the end of the first-round but did not do any substantial damage with the opportunity as Alloway worked back to his feet. Alloway took centre of the cage in the second-round but both were cautious and threw singular strikes. Blood started to spill from Alloway’s head as Bahari looked to take control with knees against the cage. Coming into the last round, the cut was cleaned up and Alloway again took centre of the cage as Bahari countered with strikes from the outside that opened up another cut on Alloway. The exchanges picked up late in the fight as both attempted to put an exclamation mark on the fight. In the end two judges awarded the fight Bahari 30-27 with the other giving it to Alloway 30-27.
It was Alloway’s first loss in the promotion after previously winning both fights. The former UFC fighter drops to 13-6 while Bahari moves a step closer to a title shot within the promotion and takes his record to 8-1.
With the crowd behind him, 26-year old Tim Wilde showed great footwork to get the better of the exchanges against Damien Brown in the early rounds of the fight which included a knee that dropped Brown early in the second-round. Brown was able to finally have some success in the last round by securing a takedown where he was able to to control the majority of the round before Wilde popped back to his feet late. In the end though the, all three judges awarded the fight to Wilde 29-28.
It was the third straight loss in the promotion for Brown after previously losing both outings via closely contested decisions to Julie Boussuge and Paul Redmond. Brown drops to 10-7. With the win, Wilde stayed undefeated at 5-0.
