Gold Coast based Judoka specialist Michael Tobin will be looking at keeping his undefeated streak going when he faces Edward Arana in the main event of Brace 40 tomorrow afternoon.
The event takes place at the Southport RSL on Queensland’s Gold Coast and will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass from 2pm AEST.
After taking an inactive 2015, this will be Tobin’s second fight of the year. Now training at BBA Mixed Martial Arts, Tobin overcame a slow start to submit Craig Lankester at Eternal MMA 16. A former Judoka turned MMA fighter, the win took his professional MMA record to 10-0 with an impressive nine of those wins coming via a submission.
Despite bringing a 8-10 record into the fight, Arana shouldn’t be one to sleep on as he has impressive wins over the likes of local fighters Ashkhan Mokhtarian, Jacob Mahony and Kian Pham. It will be his first bout since losing to Reece McLaren last May.
The bout takes place in the bantamweight division.
Integrated MMA trained Alex MacDonald will be looking to make a name for himself in the promotions lightweight tournament however first will have to get past Guy Yoshimitsu, while MacDonald’s team mate Tristan Murphy faces Tim Kingston in a welterweight tournament bout.
Also in the welterweight division, James Klingner will meet Rick Alchin while local Queensland based Alabama, USA native Matthew George comes up against Melbourne based Irish fighter Richie Ivory.
The opening fight of the card will be a featherweight fight between Stefan Rosa and Simon Arentz.
