Brisbane fighter Brendan O’Reilly is the latest Aussie to join Melbourne’s UFC 193 fight card.
As first reported by the Brisbane Times, O’Reilly (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) will square off with Brazilian William Macario (7-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC) at the event.
Following his time on “The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs Australia” series, O’Reilly, 28, went on to lose a unanimous decision to Zhang Lipeng in his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night 48 in Macau, China. “The Badger” later rebounded by outpointing fellow Aussie Vik Grujic at UFC Fight Night Adelaide in May.
Macario will no doubt be fighting to stay alive in the UFC after back-to-back stoppage losses to Neil Magny and Matt Dwyer. Macario is also a TUF veteran having made his way into the promotion via “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2” series, where the 24 year-old made it to the final.
UFC 193: Lawler vs Condit takes place at Etihad stadium in Melbourne on November 15. The event will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between defending champion Robbie Lawler (26-10) and challenger Carlos Condit (30-8). In the co-main event, Mark Hunt (10-10-1) rematches Antonio Silva (19-7).
