UFC veteran Brian Ebersole (51-17-1) will come out of retirement to face West Australian fighter Steven Kennedy (22-8) on June 24 at Hex Fight Series 6.
The grudge match was revealed tonight at Hex FS 5 which took place at the Melbourne Pavilion (results).
Hailing from Indiana, United States, thirty-five year-old Ebersole competed on the local Australian scene from 2006 to 2011 after which he was called up to the UFC. There, Ebersole went 5-3 with wins against the likes of Chris Lytle, Dennis Hallman and John Howard before retiring mid last-year after a TKO injury loss to Omari Akhmedov.
A standout on the local circuit for a number of years, Kennedy was given his opportunity in the UFC in June last year, taking a late notice fight against Peter Sobotta in Germany. The 32 year-old was submitted in the first round, and after an underwhelming performance at UFC 193 against fellow Australian Richie Walsh, the “Steamrolla” was released from the promotion.
According to the promotion, the bout will be for the Hex FS middleweight title.
