Following his short-notice UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 85: Hunt vs Mir in March, Damien Brown has received his next assignment in the promotion with the Brisbane based lightweight set to take on Paraguay’s Cesar Arzamendia at UFC 201.
UFC 201 takes place on July 30 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia with welterweight champion Robbie Lawler expected to square off with Tyron Woodley in the main event.
Brown (15-9) will be eager to notch up a win in the promotion after finding himself on the wrong side of the judge’s scorecards in Brisbane against Alan Patrick, a fight which the 31 year-old had just one week to prepare for. Prior to the loss, “Beatdown” had won five in a row on the local circuit.
Twenty five year-old Arzamendia (7-2) is a “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America” semifinalist who stumbled in his UFC debut in November, losing by knockout to Polo Reyes at UFC Fight Night 78.
