The Ultimte Fighter: Nations middleweight, and four-time Judo Olympian, Daniel Kelly remained undefeated on Saturday with a first round submission win over Luke Zachrich in his UFC debut.
The middleweights met on the preliminary portion of the card, which was streamed live on UFC Fight Pass. UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs Bisping took place on Nov. 8 at the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia.
It was Kelly who was on the front foot from the opening bell, pressuring Zachrich with strikes. Zachrich landed the cleaner shots however, but the Aussie had some success of his own. Kelly drove in for a takedown with 1:40 left in the round but Zachrich defended well. With a minute left on the clock, Kelly forced the American to the canvas and worked towards a kimura, which he locked up and forced the tap with at 4:27 of the first.
With the win, the 36 year-old Aussie stays undefeated and moves his record to 8-0. Zachrich drops to 14-4 as a professional and moves to 1-2 in the UFC.
