Dustin Poirier does not appear to be interested in a proposed match-up with New Zealand’s Dan Hooker
The Kiwi called out Poirier after his unanimous decision win over Al Iaquinta at UFC 243 in Melbourne today.
“Dustin Poirier, I’m going to smash your face in. Meet me in New Zealand in 2020. I’m going to end you,” Hooker said in his post-fight interview with Jon Anik.
Dustin Poirier took to social media to pour cold water on the potential matchup.
I'm fighting the Irishman next. You're close but not yet buddy keep punching @danthehangman

Poirier, who recently fought and lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov, suggested his next fight would be with former featherlight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor. The Diamond also gave Hooker a recommendation, saying he can fight Donald Cerrone instead.
Dan can fight Cowboy… I'm chilling out until something really excites me. Working on my craft

Whoever Hooker will fight, he will be wanting it to be someone inside the top ten of the lightweight division. Currently ranked 15, Hooker put on a clinical performance when he beat the number 6 ranked Al Iaquinta.
