Gold Coast fighter Dylan Andrews will join team mate Ben Alloway and fellow Australian fighter Robert Whittaker on the UFC on Fox Sports 1 – Condit vs Kampmann 2 card scheduled to be held in Indianapolis on August 28.
Andrews will face Swedish fighter Papy Abedi who will be making the move to middleweight for the fight. The bout was first announced on MMA Kanvas with UFC officials later confirming the fight.
After being picked dead last on season seventeen of The Ultimate Fighter, Andrews shocked his way all the way to the semi-finals before being defeated by highly touted Uriah Hall. Andrews then made his official appearance in the UFC at the season finale where he took out fellow castmate with punches in the first-round. The 33-year old will bring a 16-4 record into the fight.
Abedi make his MMA debut back in 2006 and won eight straight fights to earn his UFC contract. There his career hit a stumbling block as he was submitted in consecutive fights to Thiago Alves and James Head before rebounding in his last outing, defeating fellow Swedish fighter Besam Yousef in a close split points decision.
It was announced yesterday that Andrews’ team mate Ben Alloway will face Zak Cummings on the same card while in a battle of two “Ultimate Fighter” winners, Robert Whittaker will face-off against Court McGee.
The event will be headlined by a rematch featuring Carlos Condit taking on Martin Kampmann. Back in 2009, Condit edged out Kampmann in a split-points decision in an entertaining bout.
