Eternal has been forced to make a late change to it’s Eternal lightweight title fight with David Martinez being forced out due to weigh cut complications.
Stepping up to face Harry Webb for the title now will be Kevin Kophamel, who just 24 hours ago prior lost his scheduled fight as Ethan Mitchell was forced out due to illness.
It’s not the first time Martinez has had issues with a cut to the lightweight weight limit, having previously been hospitalised prior to his Eternal 78 fight last year. Martinez was released from hospital and won a split points decision in a catch-weight bout.
Martinez spoke about that incident in an interview with Australian MMA below.
A decorated amateur, Kophamel who is 2-0 as a pro, will look to make the most of the opportunity against Webb (4-0) who is making his Eternal debut after previously capturing the Hex lightweight title.
Eternal MMA 87 takes place at the HBF Stadium on Saturday night with the main card being broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass.
