Gold Coast based promotion Eternal MMA and Tasmanian promotion Valor have today announced that they have partnered up. In the press release, the promoters Cam O’Neill from Eternal and Dan Hyatt & Phillip McNally from Valor revealed that the partnership will ‘benefit fighters and provide further exposure’.
An official name for the partnership/network has not been revealed at this stage.
The press-release mentioned the following:
Gold Coast based Mixed Martial Arts promotion Eternal MMA is proud to announce an association and partnership with Tasmanian and Brisbane based Valor, effective immediately. With both organisations combines, presence in cities such as Brisbane, Gold Coast, Launceston, Devonport, Hobart and discussions ongoing with several other promotions Australia wide. This coup is set to largely benefit fighters and teams alike, providing exposure, opportunity and focused development for athletes, whilst placing emphasis on the creation of a legitimate ranking system and national titles, outside of traditional, lesser acclaimed promotional titles. Eternal MMA and Valor athletes will now have more opportunities on more events in more locations than anyone else in Australia, including maximised exposure, given the combined 11,000+ followers throughout social media. Signed off by Eternal MMA founder Cam O’Neill and Valor co-founders Dan “Enson” Hyatt and Phillip McNally. Eternal MMA returns to the Coolangatta Hotel on May 3rd, 2014 while Valor makes it’s QLD debut on January 31st, 2015.
Fight News Australia reached out to find out what other promotions Valor and Eternal were in discussions with and were advised that is more than one and would extend the network outside of South-East Queensland and Tasmania, but are staying tight lipped until official announced.
The ranking system is a work in progress. Eternal promoter O’Neill commented to Fight News Australia, “Our ranking system and national titles have to be legit and fair to each promotions top fighters. No longer will local fighters with large fan bases selling tickets for a single organisation be fast tracked to an undeserved title shot. We want national titles that we bring in to be exactly that – National titles”
Further news of the partnership is expected to be released over the coming weeks.
