New Zealand based lightweight contender Ev Ting will clash against former UFC fighter Kamal Shalorus at One Championship: Throne of Tigers in a bout that will have big implications on the promotion’s lightweight rankings.
The event goes down this Friday night at Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Originally born in Malaysia, Ting (12-3) will have the home-crowd support as he headlines a One Championship card for third time. In his last outing back in September, Ting won a back-and-forth decision over Australian standout Robert Lisita.
Iranian native Shalorus (9-4-2) has been inactive since his title fight against Shinya Aoki at One 19 back in 2014. Previously Shalorus was on a two-fight win streak holding a unanimous decision win over current lightweight champion Eduard Folyang in his debut match with the promotion.
Training out of Auckland MMA, Ting has had an impressive run so far with the promotion having only lost once in seven bouts. The promotion has hinted that Ting vs Shalorus may be potentially a title eliminator bout.
In the co-headliner, undefeated Malaysian young gun Agilan Thangalapani (5-0) will be taking on Taiwan’s Jeff Huang (6-2).
