A cruiserweight bout between Floyd Masson and Vikas Singh headlined the Ace Boxing promotion event on Friday night and it was the home crowd boxer in Masson who walked away with his undefeated record intact.
Masson dominated the contest from the opening bell with Singh struggling to find his distance against Masson who was moving well. The 30-year-old put an exclamation mark on the performance in the eighth and final round, dropping his opponent with heavy hands in the last 20-seconds of the bout. When it restarted, Masson looked to end the contest with more heavy shots but time ran out.
Masson moved his record to 12-0 with an 80-71, 80-71, and 80-72 unanimous decision win.
In the semi-main event, Nicila Costello secured a doctor’s stoppage in the second round over Natalie Gonzales Hills. Hills was dropped early but managed to get back. Costello immediately pounced though, landing a series of blows, especially landing flush with the right and with neither the referee nor the corner calling the fight, the doctor jumped in to end the contest and save Hills from further punishment.
‘John’ Wayne Parr who was in the corner, had words with the doctor but the right decision was made. Costello is now 3-1 in her pro career and captures the Australian flyweight title.
Billy Limov captured the ANBF Australasian middleweight title with a grueling and entertaining bout against Decla Kelly. After eight rounds of action, the scorecards were 78-73, 80-71, and 79-72, in a clash that was closer than the scorecards indicated. With the win, Limov moves his record to 8-3, 1 draw.
Earlier in the night, ‘Beck’ Hawker dominated her opponent, en route to a unanimous decision victory over Geeta Solanki from India. Hawker moves her record to 5-0 while Nathan Watson also was victorious with his opponent Sachin Nautiyal was unable to continue after three rounds. He stays undefeated to move to 7-0.
The event took place at the Eatons Hill Hotel in Brisbane and was broadcast live on Youtube.
