Now based out of the Tiger Muay-Thai & MMA gym in Thailand, Australian fighter Gokhan Turkyilmaz is set to start his international tour as part of a 8-man tournament on the Global Fighting Championships 2 card scheduled to be held next weekend at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The tournament is set to be held at 75 kilograms with Turkyilmaz scheduled to meet Gudrat Mamedov from Turkmenistan in his opening fight. Little is known about Mamedov apart from a pair of fights that he has had in Dubai from which he went 1-1, winning via TKO and losing the other via submission. Mamedov trains out of the Emirates Fight Club so will have home-crowd advantage in this bout.
Turkyilmaz is coming off a win in March at the Warriors Realm 17 card where he forced a TKO stoppage over Troy O’Connor after the end of the second round. Turkyilmaz has notable wins locally over Jay Cobain x2, Sam Bastin and Chris Bridgewater.
The tournament is being advertised as having a $100,000 prize money at the end of the year. Should Turkyilmaz get past his first opponent, he will return later on in the night to face the winner of Mohammad Mansoori Davar from Iran and Christofer Silva from Brazil. On the other side of the bracket Taha Alami Marouni will face Medhu Ramezani and Fahad Abtaan takes on Ibrahim El Zeibak.
The final is expected to take place later in the year.
