Gold Coast based promotion Fightworld Cup returns this Saturday where Integrated MMA Hervey Bay trained Greg Atzori will look to defend the promotions lightweight title for the first time against Nick Robin.
Fightworld Cup 19 takes place at the Nerang Police Citizen Youth Club on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Atzori and Robin both met back at Fightworld Cup in 2012 for the then vacant lightweight title. There, Atzori walked away with the belt after submitting Robin in a rear-naked choke early in the second round. It was Robin’s last outing while since then, Atzori has gone 3-4 with losses coming against top fighters including Jai Bradney, Oriol Gaset and Alex Volkanovski.
Sassom MMA trained James Klingner will look to continue his strong start to the year when he comes against Shindo New Breed’s Zach Hansford. Both have a common opponent in Eddie Trewin. Klingner submitted Trewin in the first round back in March 2014 while Hansford also submitted Trewin, back in November.
Also matched-up in a welterweight bout, Alex Anthony meets Damien Fraser while Fightworld Cup veteran Jason Preece clashes against youngster Garrett Gross.
