Hector Lombard has been campaigning for a bout with Jake Shields and seems that the former Bellator FC champion will get his opportunity with UFC officials announcing the match-up for UFC 171.
UFC 171 will take place at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas on March 15 (March 16 in Australia) which is expected to be broadcast on Mainevent PPV.
After going 1-2 in the UFC’s middleweight division, Cuban born Lombard made the drop down to welterweight took apart Nate Marquardt in October to put himself right in the mix at welterweight.
Jake Shields is also no stranger at fighting at middleweight however in recent years has been fighting at welterweight. The Cesar Gracie trained fighter is coming off back-to-back split points decision wins over Tyron Woodley and most recently Demian Maia in October.
The event will be headlined by a UFC light-heavyweight title fight between current champion Jon Jones and Brazilian fighter Glover Teixeira. Also on the card, Thiago Silva returns to face Ovince St. Preux while Bubba McDaniel clashed with Tor Troeng.
