Competing as part of the US$1 million Professional Fighters League (PFL) tournament, Melbourne fighter Jamie Abdallah lost his opening bout, submitted by Brazilian veteran Vinny Magalhaes in the opening round.
PFL 2 took place on Thursday night (Friday morning AEST) at the Chicago Theater in Illinois, USA.
The BJJ Black belt was able to get the fight to the ground where he took the back of the XFC Australian Top Team product, to sink in the rear-naked choke submission only 1:37 into the fight.

The loss does not eliminate Abdallah from the grand prize. The format features 72 fighters competing in six weight classes with a point based system depending on victories and early stoppages promoting the top 8 fighters to the play-offs where they will face each other in a single elimnation tournament. Magalhaes claimed six points with the victory while Abdallah remains on zero points after the opening bouts.
The winners of each weight division will take home the US$1 million purse.
