On less than two weeks notice, Las Vegas based Aussie Jessica Rose-Clark (Jessy Jess) has had an impressive performance at Titan FC 45 today, defeating Brazilian veteran Carina Damm.
The event took place at Pembroke Pines City Center, Florida and was streamed live on UFC Fight Pass.
The opening round was primarily a standup battle with Rose-Clark looking to have the distinct advantage. “Jessy Jess” peppered Damm with punch combinations and punishing leg-kicks which left Damm’s left leg red and swollen early.
After another great start on the feet from the Aussie, the second round took a drastic turn at the 2:50 mark with Damm, a BJJ black belt, taking the back of Rose-Clark. And that’s where the action remained with Damm working for a rear-naked choke submission on the canvas. Rose-Clark, however, showed great submission defence and was able to hold on until the bell.
Much like the opening frame, round three saw Rose-Clark controlling the fight on the front foot, attacking Damm with combinations, and in particular, further punishing the left leg of the Brazilian with low kicks.
At the end of the contest, the judges came back with a split decision in favour of the Aussie – 28-29, 29-28, 29-28.
A visibly emotional Rose-Clark (7-4) snaps a career first two-fight losing streak with the composed victory over 38 year-old Damm (23-14), who drops her second straight with the result.
