Gold Coast based Jessica Rose-Clark forced her Japanese opponent Emiko Raika to verbally submit due to strikes in the third round at Tribe Tokyo Fight Challenge 5 on Wednesday night, however the fight was deemed a no-contest after the 27-year-old Aussie failed to make weight.
The event took place at the Coconeri Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
The fight was in danger of being cancelled at the weigh-ins 24-hours prior to the fight after ‘Jessy Jess’ came in 5 pounds (2.2 kgs) over for the 125 pound limit. Negotiations immediately got underway to keep the fight on the card with both sides agreeing that Jessy could not weigh over 138 pounds come fight time. The Aussie also gave up 100% of her purse and the fight would be deemed a no-contest if Jessy was victorious.
It was first time attempting to make the flyweight limit for Rose-Clark who had previously confirmed that she was still contracted to Invicta Fighting Championships.
In the main event, Japanese veteran Yuyua Shirai submitted Hiroshi Takahashi with a guillotine choke in the second-round.
