Melbourne based fighter Jordan Lucas will make his One Championship return next month when he takes on experienced Russian Yusup Saadulaev at Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.
The Asian based promotion announced the matchup this week for the event, State of Warriors, which will be headlined by a strawweight championship bout between title holder Yoshitaka Naito and challenger Joshua Pacio on Friday, October 7.
Undefeated at the time, Lucas, 22, burst into One Championship after taking out the Brace Bantamweight Tournament in 2014. “Showtime” (8-1) made his debut for the promotion earlier this year as a featherweight and was submitted in the opening round by Filipino fighter Edward Kelly. The Aussie will now drop back to the bantamweight division and look to steer back on track against 31 year-old submission specialist Saadulaev (15-4-1), who returns to the promotion riding a three fight win streak. “Maestro” is a Combat Sambo world champion and has won 10 of his total victories by submission.
