An unfortunate moment for the Aussie as he made his UFC debut this weekend in Las Vegas. Tafa fell short, losing a majority decision to Mohammed Usman in a one-sided match-up.
Round 1 started with Usman putting Tafa on the back foot, and then the American shot a takedown holding Tafa against the fence. The Aussie attempted to reverse the position, but Usman had Tafa against the fence for most of the round. However, in the final minute, Tafa threw some punches to make Usman retreat to the centre of the octagon, landing a flurry of punches and forcing the American to grapple. But the Aussie lands a big left hand to end the round.
In rounds 2 and 3 Usman shot a takedown and held Tafa against the fence. The American secured a double-leg takedown and held Tafa in half-guard, landing some ground & pound for the rest of the round. However, in round 3 Tafa managed to get back to his feet within the final minute, but Usman held him against the fence to finish the fight.
Despite the loss, the Aussie is in good spirits and posted on Instagram that he appreciates the love and support from his fans, aiming to improve on the mistakes he made in the fight.
