Last week, New Zealand’s Kai Kara-France revealed on his Instagram Post that he wouldn’t be able to fight in Australia next year against Alex Perez due to an unfortunate injury sustained in training camp.
“Unfortunately due to injury, I’ve had to pull out of my upcoming fight in Perth. I’m gutted I won’t be able to fight in front of everyone in Australia,” Kara-France wrote.
With Kara-France out of UFC 284, the UFC has added another Kiwi from City Kickboxing for the event.
New Zealand’s Shane Young (13-6) has announced on his Instagram page that he will be fighting in Perth against Blake Bilder (7-0-1), an undefeated prospect who will be making his UFC debut.
Young will be coming into this fight following a tough loss to Omar Morales at UFC 260 early last year. The Kiwi is currently on a two-fight losing streak after scoring consecutive victories against Austin Arnett and Rolando Dry. Young would be looking to make a statement in his bout against the Bilder to put himself back into the winning column.
Following an impressive victory on Dana White’s Contender Series, Bilder secured a UFC contract by scoring a first-round submission against Alex Morgan this past August.
