In a kickboxing fight, Australian Nathan “Carnage” Corbett lost via second round TKO earlier today to Tyrone Spong. The match occurred on the Glory 11 fight card held at the Sears Centre in Chicago, which was televised live in the U.S on Spike TV.
As the fight started both fighters were on the front foot throwing solid combinations with Spong marginally landing the better shots. In round two Spong landed a huge left that dropped Gold Coast based Corbett. The Australian was able to return back to his feet and attempted to return fire, only to be dropped again. This Corbett got to his feet but the referee deemed him to wobbly to continue and called the fight.
The two first clashed back in 2009 in Jamaica, however the fight was declared a no-contest as Gold Coast based Corbett struck Spong as the fight was being waved off by the referee. Corbett protested post-fight saying that he was unaware the referee was calling the fight and otherwise would have walked away with the KO victory.
The loss today is Corbett’s first since 2006 in a run that lasted 26 fights.
