Hex flyweight champion Lisa Kyriacou has picked up a unanimous decision victory in her ONE Championship debut in Bangkok, Thailand. Kyriacou scored the victory over muay thai star turned MMA fighter Nat ‘Wondergirl’ Jaroonska.
Jaroonska opened the bout with her striking acumen, seemingly stinging Kyriacou with a right hand. Kyriacou was quick to initiate grappling exchanges, taking down her opponent twice, where she maintained top control for the rest of the round.
As the second round started, Kyriacou met Jaroonska in the centre of the ring, landing a solid cross on the muay thai champion, before again taking her down, securing a top position and landing strikes from the top. As the round ended the referee brought the fighters to their feet, where Kyriacou dictated the action, landing a flurry of kicks and punches to see out the round.
In a near repeat of the second round, Kyriacou again pushed the pace on the feet before taking down her opponent again and landing strikes. Jaroonska threatened an armbar in the later stages of the round, however Kyriacou was able to defend the submission, and finish the round on top.
This victory brings Kyriacou’s professional record to 7-1 and extends her win streak to 7 in a row.
