The Super Samoan is returning to the octagon.
Mark Hunt will take on American Curtis Blaydes in a heavyweight bout scheduled for UFC 221 in Perth on February 11. The Daily Telegraph was first to report the news.
The fight will be Hunt’s first since he defeated Derrick Lewis in Auckland this past June.
Hunt was scheduled to fight Marcin Tybura on the recent Sydney card but was controversially pulled from the event after an article appeared on the “Players Voice” where he spoke of slurring his words and memory loss symptoms. After a trip to Las Vegas for extensive brain scans and testing, the UFC has now deemed Hunt healthy to compete.
His opponent for Perth will be 26-year-old American Curtis ‘Razor’ Blaydes (9-1). Blaydes only carer loss came in his UFC debut where he took on soon-to-be heavyweight title challenger Francis Nganou. Since then Blaydes has amassed a four-fight winning streak with three of these being TKO finishes.
UFC 221 will take place at Perth Arena where UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker will defend his title for the first time against former champion Luke Rockhold.
