A pair of matchups have been reported for the UFC’s Auckland return on June 11 at Vector Arena.
In the main event, Sydney based Kiwi Mark Hunt is being slated to headline the event opposite Derrick Lewis in a heavyweight clash. MMA Junkie was first to report the matchup with MMA Fighting later confirming.
Hunt (12-11-1) will be looking to bounce back after suffering a devastating knockout loss at the hands of Alistair Overeem earlier this month. The 42 year-old’s leg was also badly injured in the fight and he is currently under a medical suspension until April 19.
Derrick Lewis (18-4), meanwhile, has won six straight in the UFC with his last victory coming against Travis Browne at UFC Fight Night 105 in a Fight of the Night performance.
As reported by Flo Combat, Aussie middleweight Daniel Kelly is in the works to meet number nine ranked Derek Brunson on the night.
Kelly (13-1) has now won four in a row and will looking to build on the biggest win of his career against former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans at UFC 209.
The Aussie has been granted his request for a ranked opponent next. Brunson (16-5) will be looking to turn things around after consecutive defeats against Robert Whittaker and most recently Anderson Silva. Prior to the setbacks, the 33 year-old was enjoying a five-fight winning streak.
