According to a report today from Polish website Lowking.pl, the main event for the UFC Sydney card on November 19 at Qudos Bank Arena has been set with Mark Hunt slated to take on Poland’s Marcin Tybura.
MMA Junkie later confirmed the news with UFC officials and has reported that a formal announcement confirming the fight is expected from the promotion early next week.
The fight will be Hunt’s first since his fourth round, fight of the night, knock-out of American Derrick Lewis on the UFC Auckland card back in June.
After his victory over Lewis, number six ranked Hunt stated that “anybody above me is good,” when the question was asked about who he would like to fight next, however it now looks like the Sydney based fighter will settle for the number 10 ranked Tybura.
Tybura himself is coming off an impressive performance at UFC Fight Night 111 in Singapore, where he defeated former UFC heavyweight champion Andre Arlovski via unanimous decision. The Polish fighter is riding a three fight win streak in the UFC, two of those wins have come via KO/TKO.
