Sydney based One Championship featherweight contender Martin Nguyen returns to Indonesia for the fourth time as he takes on Japanese Deep veteran and former One Championships title challenger Kazanori Yokota in the co-headliner at One Championship: Quest for Power.
The event will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center this Saturday night.
KMA Top Team product Nguyen (7-1) will be coming into the clash on a three fight win streak with the promotion. Most recently, Nguyen made quick work of highly touted Singaporean MMA star & Evolve MMA team member Christian Lee at One Championship: Heroes of the World (Photos) in Macau, China in August of 2016.
Team Grabaka representative Yokota (25-6-3) has an extensive background in MMA competition against high calibre opposition dating back to 2004. The Judo specialist primarily competed with Japanese promotions Deep and Sengoku during a large portion of his MMA career and not long ago made his debut with One mid-way through last year, but was unsuccessful against current One Featherweight Champion Marat Gafurov, having been submitted in round two.
The winner of the bout between Nguyen and Yokota may very well be put on top of the heap of contenders in the featherweight division, both fighters are eager to earn a rematch with the current champion Gafurov.
In the main event, the middleweight title will be up for grabs as current champion Vitaly Bigdash of Russia takes on Myanmar native Aung La Nsang. Bigdash the reigning champion is currently undefeated coming into the bout with an impressive 8-0 record, while his opponent La Nsang (19-9) has an edge in experience and presently possesses an undefeated streak of 4-0 with the promotion.
