UFC veteran Michael Bisping announced via UFC Tonight that he would no longer be taking part in UFC 193 due to an elbow injury sustained during his fight camp. The injury which Bisping described as minor will need to undergo surgery and will see the number seven ranked welterweight out of action for a few weeks.
“I apologise to everybody who bought tickets, to the UFC, to Robert Whittaker for pulling out of the fight. But, it’s still going to be an amazing show. I’m just annoyed that I’m not going to be there to be a part of it.” Bisping said during the interview on UFC Tonight.
The fight which was highly anticipated was set to take place on the UFC 193 Main Event Pay Per View. It is currently unknown who will replace Bisping against Australian Robert Whittaker.
UPDATE: As announced today by UFC officials, Whittaker (14-4) will now square off with Uriah Hall (12-5) at UFC 193. Hall, 31, is coming off a devastating come from behind TKO of Gegard Mousasi just last week at UFC Fight Night 75 in Japan.
UFC 193 is scheduled for November 15th at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. Tickets are on sale at TicketMaster.
