South Australian Mike Turner submitted late replacement Daniel Way in the MMA Down Under 7 main event on Saturday night. The Trinity MMA gym product got the win with a second round Kimura and moves his MMA record to 7-2. The encounter was Turner’s first for the year and follows a produtive 2014 where he went undefeated to take out the Brace light heavyweight championship.
Way, who stepped up on just day’s notice after local veteran Kym Robinson was sidelined with injury, drops to 6-6 with the result.
In the co-main event, local fighter Shane Mitchell dispatched Sydney’s Jeff King via TKO in the second round.
Meanwhile, recently crowned Valor featherweight champion, and BJJ brown belt, Jesse Medina moved his 2015 win count to four by submitting Christian Burghartwiesser with an arm-bar in the second frame.
MMA Down Under 7 took place at the Titanium Security Arena (formerly known as the Adelaide Arena).
