Central Queensland town Emerald will hold an MMA caged event for the first time with the debut of Unarmed Combat Unleashed set to debut this Saturday.
The event will be held at the Emerald Town Hall and is being organised by Emerald based fighter Jamie Lyngkuist.
The event will be headlined with a welterweight clash between Mackay fighter Matt Eland, who will take on Shindo New Breed fight Luke Wright. Both fighters will be eager to take on home the inaugural Unarmed Combat Unleashed welterweight title.
After some pullouts in recent event, Whitsunday’s MMA fighter Anton Zafir will look to return to the cage on Saturday as he faces Novocastrian Jacob Rod Staader in a State of Origin clash for the promotions middleweight title.
Also of note on the card, undefeated Melbourne 19 year-old youngster Jordan Lucas from Team Nemesis travels up to fight in Queensland for the first time. His opponent for the fight though will be Blake Edwards from Newcastle while in a heavyweight bout, Michael McDaniel from Toowoomba faces Simon Osborne from Sydney.
If you in the Emerald area make sure to get your tickets as they are selling out quickly. Regional shows like this are important for the long-term growth of Australian MMA so that all parts of the country can attend and support locally produced talent.
