NSW based Nathan Reddy was crowned the Wollongong Wars light heavyweight champion last Friday night at Anita’s Theatre in Thirroul, NSW, making quick work of Queensland’s Michael McDaniel in the show’s main event.
McDaniel looked eager as the opening bell sounded, taking aim at Reddy as he came forward throwing hard straight punches with intent. Reddy however capitalised on a failed take down attempt before locking in a guillotine choke, which brought a close to the encounter in the very first round.
The quick-fire victory makes it two wins on the trot for Reddy and moves his pro record to a tidy 4-1, with his lone defeat coming at the hands of undefeated Hex Fight Series champion Jim Crute.
In the co-main event, Xtreme MMA Melbourne’s Michael Barber was victorious over Freestyle Fighting Gym bantamweight Orcun As in what was a fight of the night encounter. Trading bombs for fifteen minutes, the two put on a crowd-pleasing performance which in the end saw Barber take home the decision.
The other pro fight from the night saw lightweight Blake Wilbraham submit Brandon Zielinski in the opening frame.
