One Championship signed Aussies Adrian Pang and Martin Nguyen will both make their promotional returns on the August 13 “Heroes of the World” card in Macau, China. As announced by the promotion today, Pang will square off with Filipino Eduard Folayang while Nguyen takes on Singapore young gun Christian Lee.
The event takes place at Macau’s Cotai Arena and will be headlined by a flyweight bout between former champion Adriano Moraes and Andrew Leone for the interim flyweight title.
Arguably the country’s best lightweight, Pang (22-8-2) returns to action following back-to-back victories over Vincent Latoel and most recently Peter Davis, who he knocked out in just 48 seconds in October. The 38 year-old had been pushing for a title fight with current lightweight champion Shinya Aoki and no doubt a win here will only add weight to his campaign. An eight-fight One Championship veteran, Folayang (15-5) is coming off a decision win over promotional newcomer Tetsuya Yamada in January.
Since losing to now featherweight champion Marat Gafurov almost 12 months ago, Nguyen (6-1) has rattled off two wins in a row under the One banner, besting Edward Kelly and Kai Wen Li. Derailing Lee next month will bring the 27 year-old Sydney based fighter one step closer to a rematch with the Russian champion. Undefeated after five professional fights, 18 year-old Lee, the younger brother of atomweight champion Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, has looked impressive since debuting just eight months ago with all five of those victories coming in the first round.
