Flyweight MMA prospect Percival Mwambi is set to make his pro debut with ONE Championship this Friday.
“No Mercy” recently announced his signing with the Asian martial arts giant on Instagram and the promotion has since been revealed that he will face Uzbek fighter Komronbek Ortikov at ONE Friday Fights 37 on October 20.
Mwambi has been in blistering form on the local amateur circuit, during which he claimed the vacant Path to Hex flyweight title with a standing choke submission over Shukor Jan in April.
The 23-year-old successfully defended the strap in July with a second-round submission victory over David Mirabelli.
Now the Kenyan Australian is set to test his mettle in the professional ranks, and he will get to do it under the nose of a major promotion. Those who impress the ONE brass on the Friday Fights platform are in line to be awarded a US$100,000 ONE contract.
First, Mwambi will have to get past Ortikov to further his claims to a berth on the roster. Little is known about the 22-year-old, who made his pro debut with a guillotine choke win in his native Uzbekistan back in May.
Family Fight Team stablemate Coopar “Rush” Royal also announced his impending ONE debut on Instagram, with the details still to be announced.
