Who would have thought a former UFC fighter taking on a former NRL player would put on such a brutal back and forth fight in the boxing ring?
That’s exactly what happened as Paul Gallen and Mark Hunt went toe to toe at Bankwest Stadium in Sydney.
There was plenty of trash talk in the build-up to the highly anticipated bout and the fight lived up to the hype.
Both fighters had their moments with Hunt landing a number of brutal blows to Gallen that had him severely wobbled at least twice.
Gallen did well to survive and as he returned fire, fighting on the inside and hurting Hunt himself.

Despite Hunt landing the heavier blows, Gallen was the busier fighter, landing more and doing enough to pick up a unanimous decision win in the eyes of the judges (58-56 x 2, 59-55).
“He hit me in round two … I don’t know what he got me with actually but it rocked me for a second,” Gallen said.
Gallen showed tremendous heart in the fight after appearing stunned in the second and again in the fourth round.

After the fight, Paul Gallen proceeded to call out former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker.
“I’m just gonna beat him, I’m gonna beat him like I beat Mark,” Gallen said Post-fight.
“I don’t like the way Rob smirked and laughed when he was asked if he would fight me. I won’t take less than 50/50 for the fight.”
The win brings Gallen’s pro boxing record to 9-0-1.
