Following his first round submission win over Daniel Way in February, Tasmania’s Priscus Fogagnolo makes a short-notice return to the cage this weekend at Valor 14.
Fogagnolo joins the promotion’s one-night, four-man middleweight title tournament alongside Brisbane’s Matt Eland, Reza Almasi of Canberra and Perth’s Joshua Maddalena.
I have always wanted to fight in my home town and now I have the chance. I will be competing for the VALOR FIGHT Middleweight Title this Saturday at the Hobart City Hall. I am very excited. Even though this is a very short notice call up, I have stayed in shape since my February contest as I was hoping to get a match in Melbourne next month so I am prepared to compete. — Priscus Fogagnolo via his Facebook Page.
Regardless of it being a late notice call up, without a doubt Fogagnolo will go into the tournament the standout favorite to claim the title.
A judo black belt and BJJ brown belt, Fogagnolo made his anticipated return to the sport at Hex Fight Series 5, following a lengthy stint on the sidelines, and ran through Daniel Way in less than four minutes. The Hobart native’s lone setback came at the hands of James Te Huna back in 2009.
Fogagnolo replaces his teammate Shaw Dean who was forced out due to injury.
Valor 14 takes place at Hobart City Hall on Saturday night. The event will mark the promotion’s four-year anniversary.
